Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) at the University of Pennsylvania
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships seeks to provide information, advice, resources, and encouragement for all undergraduates at Penn seeking more than just a superior classroom education. Penn fosters students' individual research initiatives and encourages all undergraduates to seek prestigious fellowships to continue their scholarship at the graduate level. CURF includes within it the University Scholars program, for students pursuing a high level of independent research and course work; the Benjamin Franklin Scholars program, for academically-creative students working at a high level of excellence; and the General Honors program, which provides innovative and scholarly courses to the entire undergraduate community.
Weiss Tech House
The Weiss Tech House is a 3000 square foot, non-residential facility located on the University of Pennsylvania campus. It was made possible by a gift from George Weiss, president of George Weiss Associates, Inc., a money management firm with offices in Hartford, Connecticut, and New York. Its primary goal is to instill in undergraduates an excitement for technological innovation. The technological domains of interest are broad, including, but not limited to, information, energy, materials, manufacturing, communication, entertainment, medicine, and transportation. The Weiss Tech House provides an action-oriented context to motivate learning and fosters the development of problem solving skills critical for successful innovation. In addition, it nurtures an innovative community at Penn and provides knowledge and infrastructure resources that enable innovation.
Student Activities Council (SAC)
The Student Activities Council exists to recognize, supervise and fund undergraduate activities at the University of Pennsylvania. SAC is funded through the Undergraduate Assembly and is the largest student organization on campus under the UA. SAC’s mission is to provide for greater cooperation between activities and to facilitate greater communication and cooperation between students and the University administration. SAC’s vision is to promote and improve the quality of student life at the University of Pennsylvania.
